Steven D. Cartmell, OD

Dr. Cartmell graduated in 1986 as an honor student for academic achievement and as an honored member of the 1986 class by the Dean of the Optometry school and president of NSU. In addition Dr. Cartmell earned special awards in glaucoma research.
Dr. Cartmell has been a member of the American Optometric Association and Oklahoma Association of Optometric physicians for more than 25 years. He has been married since 1983 and has two daughters. He enjoys spending time with them and/or enjoying the outdoors.
Dr. Cartmell's goal as an optometrist has always been to do everything in his power to satisfy the eye care needs of his patients.
Kara

Kara has been here since February 2009. She has many job descriptions. She is the main receptionist who does most of the answering of the phone and booking appointments. She can help you with your questions concerning insurance coverage. She is the person who will greet you when you come in for your appointment and give you the "book of paperwork". She can also help you choose the correct frame and lens options for your lifestyle.
Chelsey

Chelsey has been here since September 2007. She works part-time while going to college full-time. She will be able to help you pick out the frame that looks the best on you and help you understand all the options of lenses that are available. She may also pretest you before you see Dr. Cartmell. She also helps book appointments when you call.
Melissa

Melissa has been the office manager since 2001. She is in the office part-time, four days a week. She predominantly does all of the filing of insurance claims.
Anna

Anna works part-time while going to school full-time. Her main job duties are assisting the office manager. She spends her time doing paperwork and filing insurance claims. Occasionally she helps out on the phone with booking appointments and other needs.
Mattie

Mattie has been on our team since August 2009. She comes to our office with 8 months experience as a technician. She will primarily be one one who does the initial tests before you see Dr. Cartmell. She will be working closely with Dr. Cartmell while you are here for your exam. If you choose to wear contacts, she may be the one teaching you the proper care of your contacts.
